Overview

Neurosteroid and master hormone precursor sometimes supplemented on TRT. Sits at the top of the steroidogenesis pathway — converts downstream to DHEA, progesterone, cortisol, testosterone, and estrogen.

Mechanism of Action

Steroid hormone synthesised from cholesterol. Serves as the precursor for all steroid hormones. Also has direct neurosteroid activity (GABA-A modulation, NMDA receptor enhancement).
