Overview
A splice variant of IGF-1 (IGF-1Ec in humans) produced locally in muscle tissue in response to mechanical stress (exercise). Promotes satellite cell activation and muscle repair. Very short half-life in circulation (minutes) — rapidly degraded by proteases. Used in the bodybuilding community for localized muscle growth. PEGylated version (PEG-MGF) has extended activity. Requires reconstitution with BAC water.
Mechanism of Action
Activates muscle satellite cells (muscle stem cells) and promotes myoblast proliferation. Splice variant of IGF-1 that is specifically upregulated by mechanical stretch and damage.
