Overview
Oral DHT derivative. Pharmaceutical product (Proviron by Bayer) available in various markets outside the US. Used medically for androgen deficiency and male infertility. Unique among oral AAS: NOT 17-alpha-alkylated, making it non-hepatotoxic but also weakly anabolic orally. Primarily used as an adjunct — reduces SHBG (increasing free testosterone), provides mild anti-estrogenic effects, and is used in AAS cycles for these properties rather than for direct anabolic effect. Does not suppress endogenous testosterone at typical doses. Harm reduction: One of the safest oral AAS due to lack of 17-alpha-alkylation. Minimal liver toxicity. Still a DHT derivative — may accelerate hair loss in genetically susceptible individuals. Can lower HDL cholesterol.
Mechanism of Action
DHT derivative (1-methyl-5alpha-dihydrotestosterone). NOT 17-alpha-alkylated. Reduces SHBG. Mild anti-estrogenic activity. Does not aromatize.
