Overview
Short-acting human insulin. Slower onset than rapid-acting analogues. Can be given SubQ or IV (only insulin type routinely given IV). Used for mealtime coverage and in insulin drips.
Mechanism of Action
Recombinant human insulin (unmodified sequence). Forms hexamers in solution that must dissociate to monomers before absorption, resulting in slower onset than rapid-acting analogues.
