Overview
Long-acting basal insulin analogue. Relatively peakless profile over ~24 hours. Toujeo is the concentrated U-300 formulation with even flatter, longer profile. Most prescribed basal insulin globally.
Mechanism of Action
Recombinant insulin analogue modified at A21 (glycine) and B-chain extension (2 arginines). Forms microprecipitates at physiological pH after subcutaneous injection, providing slow, steady absorption.
