Overview
Mitochondrial-derived peptide (MDP) encoded in the 16S rRNA region of mitochondrial DNA. First discovered for its neuroprotective properties against Alzheimer disease-related toxicity. Also shows cytoprotective, anti-apoptotic, and metabolic regulatory effects. Very early-stage research with minimal human PK data. Requires reconstitution with BAC water.
Mechanism of Action
Activates STAT3 signaling, inhibits apoptosis via interaction with BAX, and promotes insulin sensitivity through IGFBP-3 interactions. Neuroprotective against amyloid-beta toxicity.
