Overview
Recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH). FDA-approved for growth hormone deficiency in children and adults, Turner syndrome, chronic kidney disease, Prader-Willi syndrome, and other conditions. Widely used non-medically for body composition, recovery, anti-aging, and fat loss. Produced via recombinant DNA technology (identical to endogenous 191-amino-acid GH). Harm reduction: Can cause carpal tunnel syndrome, joint pain, edema, and insulin resistance at higher doses. Long-term high-dose use may increase risk of type 2 diabetes. Monitor fasting glucose, HbA1c, and IGF-1 levels. Start with low doses and titrate up. Avoid in presence of active malignancy. Refrigerate — HGH is a protein that denatures at high temperatures.
Mechanism of Action
191-amino-acid polypeptide. Binds GH receptor, stimulating IGF-1 production (primarily hepatic). Promotes lipolysis, protein synthesis, and linear growth. Stimulates cartilage and bone growth via IGF-1 mediation.
