Overview

Natural thyroid extract from porcine thyroid glands. Contains both T4 and T3 in a ~4:1 ratio (vs human ratio ~14:1). Preferred by some patients who feel better on combination T4+T3 therapy.

Mechanism of Action

Desiccated porcine thyroid gland providing both T4 (levothyroxine) and T3 (liothyronine) in a natural ratio, plus small amounts of T2 and calcitonin. Provides both prohormone and active hormone.
