Overview
PPAR-delta receptor agonist developed by GlaxoSmithKline and Ligand Pharmaceuticals. NOT a SARM — does not bind androgen receptors. Grouped with SARMs because it is commonly stacked with them in the fitness community. Development abandoned in 2007 after long-term rodent studies showed increased cancer incidence at supratherapeutic doses. Despite this, widely used in the bodybuilding/endurance community for its dramatic effects on endurance capacity and fat oxidation. Harm reduction: WADA-prohibited substance. The cancer concern from animal studies is real and unresolved — no long-term human safety data exists. Does NOT suppress testosterone (no PCT needed). Typically dosed 10-20mg/day for 8-12 weeks.
Mechanism of Action
Selectively activates peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor delta (PPAR-delta) in muscle and liver. Shifts energy metabolism toward fatty acid oxidation, increases HDL, decreases triglycerides, and dramatically improves endurance capacity by increasing oxidative muscle fibre proportion.
